I will investigate a
specific challenge entitled, Single Parent Families. My project will focus on the impact of a
Single Parent Family has on a child’s development in academic achievement, self
esteem, behavior in and out of school and a child’s perspective on school
related issues.
My goal is to develop
a framework that would be used to target at risk students that may be
challenged: Coming from broken homes, children who lack stable role models and
children who have been affected by an environment that is not conducive to
healthy, social, cognitive and language development.
In addition, I would
like to implement intervention strategies that would help remove the stigma of
children feeling less socially accepted because they are raised by one parent. Further, through my investigation I want to
help make a difference in the life of a child whom is raised in a single parent
home by implementing a program, activities and workshops.
Great topic! I completely agree with you about how children being raised in a single family household could possibly have an impact on their development. Providing programs, activities, and workshops for the parents could change the family dynamics. Educators have a responsibility to children and their families in providing resources and other support tools. I look forward to reading your finding.
ReplyDeleteI am excited to hear more about your course project. Often times, single parents are not aware of the various programs available to them that provide excellent support. Head Start and Early Head Start are exceptional programs where I live, but not heavily advertised. It sounds like you have the best in mind for children coming from single parent homes.

Great topic! It is very difficult to raise children alone, be the sole provider and still meet the educational needs of your children.
